Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Houston Caribbean Festival! Volunteers are the backbone of our festival. The difference between a good volunteer program and a great one is that the volunteers have a wonderful time while they are working for the event.
The Houston Caribbean Festival depends on hundreds of volunteers of all ages each year, and each plays a very special part in our continued success. Our mission is to celebrate cultural diversity through a festive environment, while celebrating Caribbean tradition through song, dance and artistic expression. Our volunteer team understands that mission and works towards its goals by volunteering for one of our committees during the events.
This year will bring a host of wonderful things and we are so excited that you are considering coming aboard to join in the excitement. The Houston Caribbean Festival will be held July 4 – 9, 2017 and we are excited about your new or renewed interested in being a volunteer.
Volunteer Opportunities
The Houston Caribbean Festival committee hopes that our volunteer team returns from year to year and continually offers positive feedback as well as constructive suggestions on ways to improve the event.
Volunteer T-Shirts
Every volunteer receives an official Houston Caribbean Festival volunteer t-shirt. This shirt must be worn while you are working at the Houston Caribbean Festival. Please do not make any alterations to your T-shirt while you are volunteering for HCF.
Training
All volunteers, new and returning, must attend one of the training meetings which will be held weeks prior to the Caribbean festival. These meetings provide you with all the necessary details of the festival. Things change every year and it is vital that you know the new information. 2017 volunteer training dates and locations will be sent to you with your confirmation.
Meals & Beverages
Volunteers will be offered a meal and beverages before, on break or after their shift.
Main Volunteer Areas
You will have an opportunity to volunteer beginning on June 29th, June 30th, July 1st and July 3rd. There are many volunteer areas but some of the main areas on Sunday, July 3rd are listed below. Volunteers assigned to these areas main responsibility is to provide high levels of attention while attending to the needs of festival VIPs, guests, judges, artists, revelers and/or HCF committee members. Ultimately, our goal is to create an all-around positive experience.
